Perfusion imaging in acute ischemic stroke is a promising technique; we have a responsibility to design research studies that try to increase the understanding of the role of this tool in acute ischemic stroke treatment by enrolling more patients in research studies rather than jumping the gun and using the tool as a clinical aid.

The term perfusion scanning encompasses a wide range of medical imaging modalities. If you have a condition that affects the blood vessels, such as high blood pressure, heart disease or diabetes, it can raise the chances of your having an eye stroke. They happen the same way other strokes do, by a blockage of blood flow. A stroke occurs when blood flow is cut off to parts of the brain either by a blockage or if a blood vessel within the brain ruptures.
